A traditional hotel (built in the 1930s), facing a huge sandy beach on the Pentire headland (National Trust). This 'splendid' setting - with sheltered coves, surf, rock pools and caves - makes it ideal for a family and activity holiday. Entertainments (slide shows, dances, etc) are organised in season, and special breaks of all kinds are offered. Dogs are welcomed. Crantock, a mile away, is a pretty old village with an ancient church and thatched cottages. Six golf courses, the Eden Project, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are nearby. The South West Coastal Path runs through the garden. (W and RBD, RC)
